Support Materials for Flight Curriculum
If you would like your students to learn about the Science of Flight, this is for you. Eight separate handouts to support an incredible website brought to you and me by our friends at Ball State University Webwings Academy. I encourage you to visit http://www.bsu.edu/academy/webwings/index2.html. You will find a variety of lessons about various elements of flight science. I developed an entire packet of student handouts that allowed me to know they did their own work. There are between 10 and 15 hours of student work in this packet, all taken from and designed to reinforce the valuable information from this website. Now, you can take a great deal of time to make your own handouts. But why would you, when it has already been done for you.
The packet includes eight handouts, each 1 to 2.5 pages in length. In addition, I have included Teacher Keys for each lesson containing all the answers. This product is essentially a web search which requires some independent thinking in addition to finding answers within the website.
There is no website comparable to Webwings for learning about Flight that I am aware of. I have appreciated and utilized this website for several years. I should have made this supplementary information available long ago. I think you will find this packet very useful.
The packet contains separate handouts (they can be made into a single flight packet) for the following lessons from Webwings website:
1. Bernoulli
2. Drag
3. Gravity & Weight
4. Plane Parts
5. Bernoulli versus Newton
6. Thrust
7. Air Pressure
8. History of Aviation
Make sure to provide an email address capable of receiving larger files if you would like the files emailed to you.
Whether or not you decide to purchase these materials, you owe it to yourself and your students to check out the Webwings website.
